Can the combination of a cylinder be changed?

These security questions are quite usual when we need to change the cylinder of our lock due to different factors, giving you an example:

If someone attempted to open our vehicle and caused damage to the cylinder, it is advisable to replace it with a new one. However, the new cylinders come with their own key and factory combination. If we were to install the new cylinder as is, we would end up with two separate keys: one for opening the door and another for starting the vehicle, which is quite tedious. To streamline this process, it’s important to ensure that the new cylinder is properly integrated with the existing key set, potentially involving security questions to verify the right combination before proceeding.

That’s why in Alcatraz, our recommendation is, if you are going to change your cylinder due to an incident, request that you change the combination of the new cylinder to the cut of your current key. By doing so, you can address any Security Questions you might have while ensuring a more comfortable and secure solution.

At Alcatraz Locksmith, we are here to help you!

When to change the battery of your alarm control?

home security systems

In more than one occasion, it has happened to you that you want to open your vehicle with your alarm control, and you realize that it does not work, or it does not boot the insurance of your vehicle. This situation might leave you wondering about possible Security Questions, such as whether the alarm system is malfunctioning or if there’s an underlying issue with the vehicle’s security features. Addressing these Security Questions promptly can help ensure your vehicle remains protected and functional.

Here we leave a small tip of what usually happens in this case:

Normally, 60% of the failures in the control are due to damage in the battery. Our recommendation is to go to a reliable locksmith and ask them to help you check the volts of your battery, as this is the main issue why it may not be working. It takes so long to send the signal due to a lack of power, and security questions may arise if the control isn’t functioning properly.

A new battery has 3.3 volts. If your battery already has 2.8 volts, it is important to change it so that it does not cause problems and you don’t get stuck somewhere.

In Alcatraz Locksmiths, we have a range of batteries for when you have to change, we are here to serve you!
